President Obama and Valerie Jarrett (Senior Advisor to the President) hosted a national telephone conference through Business forward in support of Small Business Week on May 6, 2016. Teniele G. of Livin Lovely United, LLC had the opportunity represent the company during the phone conference where the President, the Senior Advisor, congressmen, and other business owners were able to touch on issues and changes to help benefit small businesses and workers in the United States.
President Obama touched on Trans-Pacific Partnership (TTP), which is the Presidents Trade Agreement. Ninety-five percent of the world’s consumers are outside of the United States; the more we sell abroad, the more higher-paying jobs we support here in the U.S. As of today the current trade policy has our businesses and workers at a disadvantage.
The TTP is a trade agreement with 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific, including Canada and Mexico that will eliminate over 18,000 taxes that various countries put on Made-in-America products.
The Criminal Justice Reform was another major topic that was discussed during the conference. In the United States, 600,000 inmates are released from prison. The reform wants to help ensure that those released are able to land a job and reintegrate into society. When they are not able to get employment, this causes a revolving door. The Criminal Justice Reform is encouraging the Fair Chance Business Pledge which was launched three weeks ago, and as of today 112 companies have joined such as Coca-Cola and Google.
Business owners taking part in the conference were able to ask questions directed to President Obama and to the Senior Advisor to the President, Valerie Jarrett. The questions that were not able to get answered during the conference were forwarded to the White House and will get a response in the upcoming days.

I have Breast Cancer?? Are you serious?? I cried. I screamed and I asked God, "Why me?"
Although it's extremely uncommon for young women to have breast cancer, at the age of 27 I received the diagnosis that the lump in my breast was indeed cancerous.
So many thoughts traveled through my mind since I found out, but now it's time to be strong and fight. Not only do I have to remain strong for myself but I need to be strong for my 7 year old son. I've researched how much my chemo treatment would be without insurance and the cost is $26,000 per treatment. On top of other bills I'm faced with being a single mom I'll have to come up with this money to be able to pay for treatments. This is why I'm creating a gofundme to get help with my treatment cost.
They say you never know how strong you are until being strong is all you have. With this experience or journey as I am going to call it, I will be trying my very best to help others along the way. I am going to be showing some very sensitive moments like shaving my hair off in preparation for cancer treatments and filming some of my appointments and events thereafter.
My new question is, "Why not me?" I am strong and I can handle anything negative thrown at me.
I would like to thank you all for reading my story and also give a huge thank you in advance to those who will be donating. To those who want to give but can't I also thank you. Blessings!
Love, Nikita Marie
